Pressing 'Reset' on your Life or Schedule

Pressing 'Reset' on your Life or Schedule

Life got you a bit frazzled? It might be time for a reset! You may have even experienced this before – through significant life events, career changes, times of unknowns, or societal and external stressors. Odds are, the reset is long overdue. Below are five tips that will help you feel lighter, motivated, and ready to conquer whatever life throws at you.

Take the Time You Need

Set a timeline for yourself to evaluate your current life or schedule and see what serves you best. What brings you joy? What fulfills you? What fuels and motivates you? What makes you a better person, human, friend, family member, colleague? Opposite of this, consider what no longer serves as a positive force in your life. Does work still challenge you, is it time for a career shift? Looking for a change of scenery, want to move to new city? Do things feel monotonous, looking to learn a new skill? Do you feel worn down, is it time to eliminate some commitments?

Set Goals

Once you have taken the time to review your circumstances as they are, now is the time to set goals big or small. Use SMART goals to help you get to where you want to go – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Reflect on your personal and professional goals, as well as the values that guide your life. Consider these goals your opportunity to use a blank canvas to gravitate toward the changes you want to make, and the control you wish to have. Be consciously aware of these goals even when the reset seems difficult.

Visualize the Reset

You have your goals and know it’s time to reset your life or schedule. Make your reset even more present with constant reminders. Scheduling apps can help you feel more organized and comfortable, spending time in nature can connect you to the present moment, and creating a poster, calendar, or even leaving sticky notes in frequently visited locations like your bathroom, car, or desk can help you feel balanced.

Practice Gratitude

Fuel your growth reset through gratitude and a sense of limitlessness. Become aware and choose to remain positive through these changes. Remember, change is good! What a powerful idea to imagine that this reset could make all the difference and be the turning point in your life. No one is perfect, bad days will happen, it’s unavoidable. Most important, don’t give up, just keep going – and do so with grace and gratitude.

Personal Reminders

As you work through your reset, be it work, busy schedules, life commitments, or anything that requires planning, reserve and dedicate time for just that. For example, getting back in the work groove after some time off? Save work for your dedicated work space. Schedule breaks for yourself be it the weekday or weekend, and check in with yourself to actually make it a break – take that time to reset and readjust any changes that need to be made.

Resets don’t have to be hard, in fact, they are one of the easiest things you can do if you stick to your priorities. Get yourself out of the rut and feel confident in changing your mindset and your opportunity to reclaim control, improve your well-being, and set a foundation for long-term success.
