Podcasts to Boost Your Emotional Wellbeing
Podcasts are a sequence of audio episodes similar to a TV series; the name was originated by a British journalist as a combination of “iPod” and “broadcast”. They are available through a simple search of the internet as well as from streaming services like Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music and Spotify. Topics range from mental health, mindfulness and self-care to pop culture, history, crime and the daily news.
The One in Five Campaign has compiled a list of interesting and timely emotional wellbeing podcasts that you can listen to while getting ready in the morning, in the car, while working out or even to unwind before bed. Here are just a few examples:
Checking In. Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams chats with guests like Dr. Oz and stylist and designer June Ambrose about mental health, as well as talking about her experience with an in-patient depression treatment.
Mental. Bobby Temps’ podcast is aimed at breaking down mental health stigma and discussing different factors about emotional wellbeing.
The Anxiety Coaches Podcast. In each 20 minute-ish episode, anxiety coach Gina Ryan shares valuable exercises to help you cope with anxiety, calm your nervous system and recenter yourself.
