"Spring" Into Nature
Spring is the season when nature bursts back into life in an explosion of sight, sound and color. Itβs the ideal time to get out with others on a relaxing nature walk. Take advantage of the fresh air and warmer temperatures to go explore a city park, public garden, preservation land or the open countryside with family or friends.
Below are some simple tips to make outdoor adventures easy and fun for all:
Invite little ones to lead. Letting children set the pace and direction on a walk builds their confidence and decision-making skills, while also satisfying their curiosity as they see, touch, smell and discover new things on your outing.
Start a nature collection. Bring a bag and gather interesting things that have fallen to the ground, like bark, leaves, small stones, flowers or seeds that can be displayed at home or used in nature crafts. You can even bring along magnifying glasses and a field guide to better examine and identify your treasures.
Practice mindful listening. Pause occasionally to be fully present and aware of the noises surrounding you - the sound of the wind rustling in the trees or the chirping of birds is especially soothing!
Bring your camera. Not everything you find on your walk can (or should be) brought home. Snapping pictures creates keepsakes to recall these precious memories.
Take a spring nature walk this weekend to promote family bonding, connect with friends, reduce stress and encourage curiosity and imagination.
