Bodies come in all shapes and sizes. Your body can change from day to day as can your relationship with it. With pressure to look a certain way coming from social media, advertising and even friends or family, appreciating your body as it is can be challenging. Boost your body image and overall confidence with a few tips below.
Show your body some TLC. Self-care is vital to your mental health, and self-care for your body can also have a positive effect on your wellbeing. Do what makes you feel good in your body whether that is Taking a hot bath, exercising, or lounging outside can positively impact your physical wellbeing.
Challenge definitions of beauty. Remind yourself that beauty isn’t always what external messages depict. There can be pressure to look a certain way but remember that beauty comes from the inside and differs from person to person.
Wear clothes that make you feel good. The right clothes can help you feel comfortable and confident as you go about your day.
Avoid comparisons. Comparing yourself to others can be tempting. Challenge negative thoughts and remember that no matter what your body looks like, appreciating it and the things it does can help you feel good about yourself.
Practice positive body talk. A simple way to improve your body image is acknowledging positive aspects about yourself. Celebrate what your body can do. For example, record on paper or say out loud how wonderful the sun feels on your skin or how a good stretch feels when you wake up.
