Holiday Travel Survival Guide
Nearly 63% of Americans plan on traveling for at least one holiday this year. Wherever you're going and however you plan on getting there, this busy season can bring extra travel-related challenges. From weather changes to price surges, it's important to prepare early if you plan on traveling this month.
Expect the unexpected. Having a travel plan can help you minimize travel stress in case of delays. Head to the airport early due to long security lines and if driving, prepare your vehicle for potential weather hazards.
Avoid peak travel dates. One of the most expensive travel dates of the year is the Sunday after Christmas. If possible, leave early and return late to avoid crowds.
Check travel requirements. Continue to check CDC and TSA guidelines for COVID regulations. If you plan on traveling with kids or pets, visit airline and hotel websites for guidance on what is and isn't okay to bring.
Bring plenty of snacks and entertainment. Avoid frequent pit stops or pricey airport food by packing your own healthy treats. Especially if you're traveling with children, having games for the road or flight can help prevent boredom.
Make sure your home is taken care of. Have you hired a pet sitter or asked someone to check your mailbox? If you plan on traveling for an extended period, consider having someone housesit or installing a security system.
