Staying Safe While Grocery Shopping

Here are a few tips to help you stay safe while grocery shopping:

  • Wear a mask

  • Disinfect your cart before using

  • Visit your store during non-busy hours

  • Find out if your store has special hours for those at high-risk if applicable

  • Refrain from touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands

  • Keep a minimum 6-foot distance from other shoppers and workers

  • Follow signs and directions in grocery store that are designed to keep you safe

  • Only touch products you intend to purchase

  • If possible, use touchless payment options

  • Carry hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol with you

  • Practice hand hygiene before and after entering the store, as well as when you get home and before handling any food

  • Stay home if you are sick

If you aren’t feeling comfortable going to the grocery store, here are some alternative options to consider:

  • Utilize curbside pick-up for your groceries

  • Consider home delivery grocery options

  • Try out a meal kit delivery service

  • Ask a friend or family member to pick up groceries for you if they already feel comfortable going to the store
