Tips For Staying Healthy At Work
If you have a sedentary work day, find ways to sit less. Each hour (60 minutes) stand up for 5 minutes and go for a quick walk, do some stretching, talk to a colleague, get some water, or other activity that gets you out of your chair. If it makes more sense to stand up every 2 hours (120 minutes) do so for 10 minutes.
Use the color green in your surroundings. If you cannot paint the walls of your work space, bring in pictures of green spaces, add a leafy plant or other green décor. The color green has been linked to creative thinking - especially if it is in a quiet and calming hue like sage or sea-foam green.
Have lunch in the break room. Leave your desk and go somewhere where you can truly have a break. Try to focus on eating and not surfing the internet. If you are distracted you may overeat.
Don't slouch! Sit up or stand up straight to avoid hunching over. Slouching leads to back pain.
If you stand during your work day, wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Stay hydrated and take sitting breaks.
