Lowering sodium levels may reduce the risk of high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack and cardiovascular disease. The World Health Organization predicts that 2.5 million lives could be saved every year if everyone followed the recommended daily intake of 5 grams of sodium per day.
What can you do to lower your salt consumption?
Don't add salt during the preparation of food
Get rid of the salt shaker on the kitchen table
Limit the consumption of salty snacks
Choose products with lower sodium content
Eat less processed foods (such as ready meals, processed meats like bacon, ham and salami, cheese, and instant noodles)
