Simple Office Exercise Ideas
Wander around the office
This may sound silly, but it definitely works to help increase your total steps for the day. Every hour or so, stand up from your desk and take a walk around the office. If it's nice outside, go take a walk around the building to get some fresh air. Don't underestimate the power of getting up to stretch your legs!
Always take the stairs
This is an obvious one, but people opt for the elevator more often than not. If you use that elevator time to catch up with coworkers, ask them to join you by taking the stairs. You can still socialize while boosting your steps and getting a little cardio in. It's truly the easiest way to keep moving at work.
Multi-task (the good way)
Next time you're waiting for your papers to print, make the most of that time and do some calf raises or squats. You're getting exercise while still being productive. By the time your papers have printed, you may have burned 100 calories!
The seat squeeze
If you don't want to draw attention to yourself by doing squats by the printer, you can tone your booty while sitting at your desk. Simply squeeze your buttock while sitting at your desk for 5-10 seconds and then release. Repeat until you feel the burn!
Get moving during lunch
Take 15 minutes to exercise and then take the remaining time to sit and relax to eat lunch. Maybe even use this time to add in some stretching or meditation. Start by taking a few laps around your office building, do some squats outside, or even do some arm circles to get the blood flowing. Try to move for a full 15 minutes before sitting down for lunch. You may be able to persuade a few coworkers to join you!
These are just a few ways to get your body moving at work. You may be surprised to see that implementing a few of these tips into your work day make a difference in how you feel mentally and physically.
