Tips To Increase Focus And Concentration

With all the distractions in society today, your ability to focus and concentrate on the things that need to get done suffers.  Using the strategies below will help decrease the nonproductive thoughts you have on a regular basis and help remind you of the goals that you want to achieve, which will make you a healthier and happier individual.

Practice meditation.  This is one of the best ways to decrease the brain chatter that distracts us from what we are trying to concentrate on at that moment.  The benefits go way beyond just clearing out some headspace.  It has also been shown to:
   - Improve self-image
   - Reduce depression and anxiety
   - Preserves the aging brain - older meditators had larger brains compared to their counterparts
   - Improves concentration and attention
   - Can also help with addiction
Get a nice notebook planner.  This can help with putting everything you need to get done for the day down on paper so you can prioritize tasks to work more efficiently.  If something else comes up that you must do, you can write that down too.  This can be done for home and work.
Make notes.  Post notes at work or home to prompt you to do certain activities.  You can also make notes to help remind you to not do any habits you are trying to break.
Make reminders.  Use technology to your advantage.  There are endless resources when it comes to apps and gadgets you can use to help you be successful with managing your time.
Don’t be self-critical.  No one is perfect, and knowing you will have some bumps in the road will help you get through those moments.  Try to fix the issue as soon as possible to help take it off your mind.  The longer it goes, the harder it will be to get back to your routine.
