Outdoor Winter Activities to Stay Active!

We all know the feeling when temperatures drop and all you want to do is curl up under a nice warm blanket. It can be difficult to find motivation to stay active in the winter months, but don’t fret! We have some fun, family-friendly activities you can go out and do to get that lil’ heart pumpin’!

When the sun comes out or the chilly winter winds aren’t so brutal, try these fun winter activities!

  1. Snowshoeing: Strap on those babies and walk around your favorite park or nature reserve and experience the beautiful snowy wonderland. It may sound like a simple activity, but trust me, you WILL work up a sweat!

  2. Ice Skating: You don’t need to be a graceful ice dancer to get a good workout from ice skating. Find a nearby rink and spend an hour or so just gliding around and hanging out with pals! You’ll definitely feel the burn, but hopefully you’re having a great time and won’t even notice!

  3. Sledding: Take the kiddos or some of your more kid-at-heart friends to the nearest sledding hill and let loose! It may sound easy enough, but you’ll get the heart pumping when you lug that sled back up to the top. Want to add a little extra kick to it? Make it a race!

  4. Skiiing/Snowboarding: This may take a bit more practice than sledding, but once you get the hang of it, you will be shreddin’ those slopes in no time. No need to head right to that black diamond hill either — we fully support Bunny Hill veterans here.

Give these winter activities a try and stay active this winter!

And if you live somewhere where there isn’t snow and it doesn’t get to 1 digit temps… well we envy you.
