Yoga for Anxiety: Legs Up the Wall

When life gets a little crazy and we’re moving too quickly, it’s important to take time to slow down and re-center. “Legs Up the Wall” is a simple and restorative yoga pose that slows your heart rate and grounds you in the present moment.

Get into the pose by sitting sideways next to a wall with your legs outstretched. Lean back on your arms to turn and lift your legs up to rest flush against the wall, with your back flat on the ground. Bring your arms to rest on the floor on either side of you. Place palms face-up for a feeling of openness and new beginnings, or face-down to feel more grounded. Breathe slowly in and out for at least five full breaths.

Notice your inhales and exhales and the rhythm of your heartbeat, and listen mindfully to the sounds around you. Relax and enjoy!
