How To Push Through Your Afternoon Slump
Sometimes you just hit a lull in your energy that makes it difficult to get anything done. So what can you do when this happens?
Take a break.
Stepping away from your desk when you're trying to get things done can seem counterintuitive. But it could be just what you need. Research says that working for 52 minutes before taking a 17-minute break may be the perfect recipe for hyper-productivity.
Drink some water.
Whether we realize it or not, we're all a little thirsty. But it turns out this continuous state of dehydration can have some pretty negative effects on our work day. When you start feeling a little sluggish, put down the coffee mug and drink a glass of water.
Get moving.
When you sit in one spot for hours at a time, it's no surprise that you start to feel a little lethargic and unfocused. Take a quick walk around the office or just stand up and do some light stretching at your desk.
Clean your space.
When you're feeling short on focus, it's the perfect time to do some mindless tasks like cleaning up your desk or sorting through your overflowing inbox. It's something tangible that allows you to physically see the progress you've made. That alone will inspire you to power through that afternoon slump.
